Bless the Lord Oh my soul!

There is a quiet instruction in Psalm 103 that feels both simple and urgent.

Bless the Lord with everything within you and do not forget all His benefits.

It is a reminder we cannot afford to ignore. Because forgetting is easier than we think.

The Psalmist highlights what God has done. He forgives your sins. He heals your sicknesses. He blesses your life. He crowns you with love and mercy. These are not small things. They are life defining truths. Yet somehow, we forget.

Not because we are careless, but because life moves quickly. A single day can hold so much.

The Bible says that to God, a day is like a thousand years. And sometimes, that is exactly how life feels. So much can happen in one day that it stretches beyond what we can hold.

You wake up with joy. You receive good news. Something you have been hoping for finally happens. And then the same day shifts. You watch the news. You receive another message. An unexpected bill. A difficult conversation. Something unsettles you.

And suddenly, everything feels heavy.

It is as if the day has stretched into something much longer. What began with joy is now filled with uncertainty. And somewhere along the way, gratitude slips through your hands.

You forget that you smiled. You forget that something good happened. You forget that God showed up.

And slowly it begins to feel like there is nothing to be grateful for.

But that is not the truth.

The truth is there is always something. Always.

And sometimes, remembering also means recognising the people who have shown up in our lives.

The call that came at the right time. The person who checked on you. The one who opened a door. The one who stood with you when things were not easy.

We thank God, and we also acknowledge the people He has raised along the way.

Because none of us are where we are on our own.

Someone, somewhere, made something possible.

That is why this Psalm is not just praise, it is discipline. A conscious effort to remember. To pause and recall what God has done, and to recognise the ways it has come into our lives. To hold onto it even when the day feels long and complicated.

Gratitude is not automatic. It is intentional.

Sometimes it looks like writing things down. Sometimes it looks like speaking them out loud. Sometimes it is simply choosing to say, I will not forget.

So today, take a moment to remember.

What has God done for you that you may have overlooked?Who has shown up for you that you may not have acknowledged?

Write it down. Speak it. Hold onto it.

Do not let the weight of the day erase the goodness that was already given.

There is always something to be grateful for.
